Grouse Mountain Lodge is located just off the southwest corner of Glacier National Park in the town of Whitefish, MT. This four season, quintessential, 4-diamond lodge has everything you could possibly want for an awesome winter experience. Snowmobile on 220 miles of groomed trails plus thousands of acres of off trail play areas. Grouse Mountain Lodge can cater to your every need from skiing (Big Mountain), ice skating, dog sledding, spa, cross country skiing, shopping (for the ladies) and winter horseback riding. Check it out at www.montanasfinest.com to get the full picture of this awesome facility and the great snowmobiling it has to offer.

Day One

our tour begins as the plane lands at Glacier Park International Airport (FCA code) or downtown Whitefish via Amtrak’s Empire Builder train. The train ride from either Chicago or Seattle direction has to be pretty awesome, providing you have the time and inclination to see a lot of scenic country. Waiting transportation takes you for a 15 minute ride to Grouse Mountain Lodge for a welcome reception.

Day Two

The next morning, we are off to the Olney trailhead to begin our tour of the Antice Peak Scenic Loop. The trail will take us toward Antice Peak (6000 ft.) for some awesome views of the Stillwater State Forest. Lunch will be at the warming hut on the Antice Peak after which we return to Grouse Mountain Lodge with time to relax or hot tub before a great dinner. The next day we ride the Canyon Creek trail through the Smoky Range on our way to The Big Mountain Ski Resort where we have lunch at the Summit House Restaurant. At sixty-seven hundred feet elevation, The Big Mountain offers scenic views of Glacier National Park and The Flathead Valley. Canyon Creek trail offers access to the popular Kimmerly Basin to play in if you feel the urge. Off-trail riding will be an option that will be at your discretion.

Effective for the 2008 season the free day is not part of the tour package.

If you would like to spend an extra day seeing the sites and exploring the Whitefish-Flathead area you will need to book an extra night either at the beginning or the end of your tour. Some of the activities that are offered by Montana Adventure Company (877-223-0745) are skiing and tubing on Big Mountain, ice skating (indoor rink), dog sledding, snowshoeing and winter horseback riding. These and other activities along with transportation can all be arranged through the activities desk in the lobby at Grouse Mountain Lodge. To make reservations
